40 multiple-choice questions in French, 45 minutes, at least 32 correct answers to pass. Five themes: the principles and values of the Republic, the institutions, rights and duties, history, geography and culture, and life in French society. You register with an approved organisation; exam fees are not included.

The civic exam does not replace the language diploma. For naturalisation, you also need a B2 level: that is the goal of my D.E.L.F. programme.
